What can we do

As piddly and small as we all feel, there IS something we can do!
Support the Parental Rights Amendment! Here is a brief overview of the PRA, and why it is a good counter solution to the CRC.

SECTION 1
The liberty of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children is a fundamental right.

SECTION 2
Neither the United States nor any State shall infringe upon this right without demonstrating that its governmental interest as applied to the person is of the highest order and not otherwise served.

SECTION 3
No treaty may be adopted nor shall any source of international law be employed to supersede, modify, interpret, or apply to the rights guaranteed by this article.

Ask your sate representatives, congress, and etc to SUPPORT the proposed PRA! make the PHONE call TODAY!

About the UN Treaty - Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Ten things you need to know about the structure of the CRC.

1. It is a treaty which creates binding rules of law. It is no mere statement of altruism.
2. Its effect would be binding on American families, courts, and policy-makers.
3. Children of other nations would not be impacted in any direct way by our ratification.
4. The CRC would automatically override almost all American laws on children and families because of our Supremacy Clause.
5. The CRC has some elements that are self-executing, while others would require implementing legislation. Federal courts would have the power to determine which provisions were self-executing.
6. The Courts would have the power to directly enforce the provisions that are self-executing.
7. Congress would have the power to directly legislate on all subjects necessary to comply with the treaty. This would constitute the most massive shift of power from the states to the federal government in American history.
8. A committee of 18 experts from other nations, sitting in Geneva, has the authority to issue official interpretations of the treaty which are entitled to binding weight in American courts and legislatures. This effectively transfers ultimate authority for all policies in this area to this foreign committee.
9. Under international law, the treaty overrides even our Constitution.
10. Reservations, declarations, or understandings intended to modify our duty to comply with this treaty will be void if they are determined to be inconsistent with the object and purpose of the treaty.

Ten things you need to know about the substance of the CRC.

1. Parents would no longer be able to administer reasonable spankings to their children.
2. A murderer aged 17 years, 11 months and 29 days at the time of his crime could no longer be sentenced to life in prison.
3. Children would have the ability to choose their own religion while parents would only have the authority to give their children advice about religion.
4. The best interest of the child principle would give the government the ability to override every decision made by every parent if a government worker disagreed with the parent’s decision.
5. A child’s “right to be heard” would allow him (or her) to seek governmental review of every parental decision with which the child disagreed.
6. According to existing interpretation, it would be illegal for a nation to spend more on national defense than it does on children’s welfare.
7. Children would acquire a legally enforceable right to leisure.
8. Christian schools that refuse to teach "alternative worldviews" and teach that Christianity is the only true religion "fly in the face of article 29" of the treaty.
9. Allowing parents to opt their children out of sex education has been held to be out of compliance with the CRC.
10. Children would have the right to reproductive health information and services, including abortions, without parental knowledge or consent.

For a full explanation of all of these points, check out Mike Farris's article, Nannies in Blue Berets.

School Pictures

the co-op we have joined offered the girls to get a school picture taken.

To embarrass them and torture them we agreed.
All i have to say is; It is a right of passage in growing up to have photos displayed in public for all to laugh and ridicule.

Glad I could offer this for them, a chance to be humiliated in front of all you! ;)

Lucky to be Alive.

Seeing how fragile life is and knowing that we each have a mission to fulfill, has left me pondering and planning.

Rather than lamenting that I can not get 'stuff' done each day, I will focus on the time spent with my little ones, and the relationships we are building.

We had a fun day yesterday, we spent the whole day on the couch, reading and learning, discussing and talking. I hope I can have the clarity to do that more often, I find myself too overwhelmed with my 'to-do' list, and it is so funny how i can spend all day doing my housework and bills, and then at the end of the day, that list just reappears!

So rather than working all day to have an immaculate house, i will enjoy the day, enjoy the kids and allow myself to relax and breathe a bit.

Slow ly creeping back into my life.

I am trying to maintain somewhat of a schedule, modified, but structured, The kids all got minor colds this past week, and of course baby Eli gets a full blown nasty bug. we stayed up half the night last night, he was coughing and whimpering, I felt so bad!

He wanted to just lay on my arm, so i let him, he spiked a fever around 2 a.m. and I gave him some meds. I have been keeping him up with silver solution, garlic & Cherry Bark (respiratory support) It was not enough, and we treated (we?? Who is this We, there is not a bird on my shoulder)
OK, I gave him Tylenol last night, and he was able to sleep a little while. He woke back up after 3 hours, and I gave him some Ibuprofen. Poor baby! He is sleeping now, (wish I was) and I am trying to muster up the strength to go pick up the flooring for the kids rooms' I have hired a handy man to come in and finish tier rooms so that when Wes returns he can trim them, and we can assemble bedrooms at last! (only 6 months after living here!)
I can hardly wait for the kids rooms to be set up, I am so mentally tired of the chaos that comes from not having beds, dressers and closets available for the kids!

OK enough whining.

I was so uplifted by Conference, and have felt like I am going to try harder at embracing the growing pains, and allowing my Heavenly Father to guide me and mold me into the woman he would have me be.

My dear Friends the Skembo's have a grown son who was in a terrible motorcycle accident, he is in a coma right now, and there is not much hope that he will recover. I spoke with her yesterday and true to Consie's style, she said "I think my motto fro this year is it is not what life throws at us but HOW we handle it" I pray for thier whole family to be as wise and pliable as she is, I love her, I miss her, it has been a few weeks since we have visited (since the baby was born) and I miss our outings.

I will share with you the cartoon my mom sent me:

For those of my readers who are not members of our Church To visit teach is to commit to seeing a set of sister at least once a month, in an effort to create a gospel sharing relationship, and to ensure they are not passed over when they need help or assistance. Some of my best friends have been my visiting teachers, and I still keep in touch with them today. (Amanda Z., Carolee J. )
So sharing a message from the scriptures is ideal, and the new fad with "Twilight" has gotten some of us sisters off track, and distracted. So this is tongue in cheek, hoping those of us who are diverging will return to the scriptures and teach from the words of Christ.
